Development of the Medicinal Plant Sector: A New Micro-Cluster Established

The event also marked the approval of the micro-cluster's short- and medium-term development plan. This plan focuses on three main objectives: developing the cultivation and harvesting of medicinal and aromatic plants, expanding processing activities for these crops, and enhancing the cluster’s competitiveness by fostering collaboration among its members.

Within the micro-cluster, joint efforts will also be made to address the challenges businesses face, attract funding for new ventures, and explore new methods and channels to promote goods and services from the region.

"The creation of this micro-cluster is something new for Moldova, and I believe it will significantly contribute to revitalizing and promoting the medicinal and aromatic plant sector. With a shared 10-year vision, its members plan to expand their influence both nationally and internationally, building connections and partnerships with similar companies in the field, facilitating the transition from an extensive to an intensive economy," says Viorel Chivriga, a UNDP consultant.

The "Herbafruct" micro-cluster is supported by the UNDP project "Resilient and Inclusive Markets in Moldova," funded by Switzerland.
